On Monday, the BCCI has made a huge modification to the IPL 2026 schedule. The tournament is into its third week, with all teams having played at least four matches.
Prior to match no. 21 on Monday in Hyderabad, it is the Rajasthan Royals (RR) who are on top of the points table, having secured four wins in as many games.
On the flip side of the coin, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are at the bottom of the table, with zero wins under their belt.
Meanwhile, talking about the major shift in the schedule, the BCCI announced that the venues for the Chennai Super Kings vs Gujarat Titans matches in IPL 2026 have been swapped.
There are two CSK vs GT matches scheduled in the league stage. Their first encounter was scheduled to be played on April 26 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Now, while the date of the match remains the same, this clash will now be hosted at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. This is an afternoon match with a scheduled start time of 3:30 PM IST.
Their next match, the reverse encounter, is slated for May 21, an evening game. Originally to be played in Ahmedabad, it will now be played in Chennai.
CSK vs GT: Why Did BCCI Swap Both Chennai Super Kings vs Gujarat Titans Matches?
The BCCI has had to swap the venues for the two CSK vs GT matches in the league stage of IPL 2026 because of the municipal corporation elections in Ahmedabad and other parts of Gujarat set for April 26, 2026.
Chennai Super Kings vs Gujarat Titans matches schedule:
- April 26, CSK vs GT, MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, 3:30 PM IST
- May 21, GT vs CSK, Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, 7:30 PM IST
Meanwhile, both teams are still finding momentum in this competition. Five-time champions CSK began their season on a disappointing note, losing their first three matches by significant margins.
They finally pulled one back, beating Delhi Capitals at home, courtesy of a century from Sanju Samson and a four-wicket haul from Jamie Overton.
One-time champions Gujarat Titans also kicked off their campaign with defeats, going down to Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals in their first two games. A third loss was on the cards, but save for David Miller’s brain fade of not taking a single, GT escaped by one run against Delhi. They then recorded a convincing victory against the Lucknow Super Giants to seal their second win.
When is CSK’s next match?
CSK’s next match in IPL 2026 is on Tuesday, April 14, against KKR in Chennai. Kolkata is still searching for their first win of the season, while CSK would want to continue the winning momentum they found recently.
