Yet another former English champion in Liverpool stood against them in the quarter-final. PSG won both legs 2-0, a 4-0 aggregate win to make their way into the semi-finals.
On the other hand, Bayern Munich has been quite successful in the UCL 2025-26. They started their league campaign with a 3-1 win against Chelsea, followed by a 5-1 domination of Pafos. A 4-0 win against Club Brugge was next, before a 2-1 triumph against defending champions and semi-final opponents PSG.
The German giants kicked off the second half of the league stage with a 3-1 defeat against Arsenal but finished out strong with three wins in a row: 3-1 against Sporting SG, 2-0 over Union SG, and 2-1 against PSV.
With seven wins, one loss, and 21 points on the league table, the team from Munich finished second and thus automatically qualified for the round of 16, where they faced Atalanta. Bayern buried Atalanta 6-1 in the first leg and 4-1 in the second, winning the tie 10-2 on aggregate.
In the quarter-finals, the Bavarians faced serial UCL winner Real Madrid. Bayern Munich won the first leg away 2-1 before winning a modern-day classic 4-3 in the second leg, a game that saw Real receive two red cards and a last-minute goal to seal the deal.
