The Harmanpreet Kaur-led unit will be high on confidence after winning the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 last year on home turf. In this marquee tournament, India are eyeing their maiden women’s T20 World Cup trophy.
Several of the core players from last year’s ODI World Cup title-winning campaign are part of this tournament, including Harmanpreet, Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh, Renuka Singh Thakur, Kranti Gaud, and Radha Yadav. The squad also includes talented all-rounders Shreyanka Patil and Arundhati Reddy.
In the previous edition of the Women’s T20 WC, India had failed to reach the semifinals after winning two and losing two group games, which meant India finished third in their group.
In this edition, each team will feature in five group stage matches as the 12 teams are divided into two groups of six each. The top two sides from each group will progress to the semi-finals.
India’s group in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 includes Pakistan, Australia, Bangladesh, the Netherlands, and South Africa. India, Australia, and South Africa are the stronger teams in this group, with their clashes virtually deciding the eventual standings.
India will begin their journey in this competition by clashing with their neighboring arch-rivals. Pakistan is being led once again by Fatima Sana. The Pakistan squad includes the experienced Aliya Riaz, captain Fatima, Muneeba Ali, Nashra Sandhu, Sadia Iqbal, and veteran Diana Baig.
