It was then fairly obvious that he would be made team captain, especially after the Super Giants let go of their previous skipper KL Rahul.
Speaking of KL Rahul, he was bought by the Delhi Capitals, who let their former captain Pant go. So it too seemed obvious that Rahul would become the captain of the Capitals. However, the franchise threw a curveball, as they named their retained all-rounder Axar Patel their captain.
