What Ryan Parag Said After Getting Orange Cap?: Former India batsman Wasim Jaffer made an apt comment on Riyan Parag. After Parag’s match-winning half-century against the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede, through which he bagged the Orange Cap, Jaffer tweeted that Parag has “turned his critics into admirers.”.
The 22-year-old RR cricketer illustrated how he’s managed to do it. From being trolled heavily for his underperformance in the last four IPL seasons and his social media activity, Parag is now getting appreciation and praise from everyone as he donned the Orange Cap after match number 14 of the IPL 2024.
Both Riyan Parag and Virat Kohli have 181 runs in three innings so far, but since Parag’s strike rate of 160 is higher than Kohli’s 141, the RR batsman has been given the Orange Cap.
The Royals gave Parag a promotion in the batting order. He batted mostly from numbers 5 to 7 earlier, but after seeing his thunderous domestic season for Assam, where he batted at number 4, RR promoted him to number 4 for IPL 2024. And he’s delivered instantly.
He had started the tournament with 43 against the Lucknow Super Giants. Then came two consecutive half-centuries: 84* against the Delhi Capitals and 54* against the Mumbai Indians. He has contributed significantly to all three of Rajasthan’s wins.
What Ryan Parag Said After Getting Orange Cap?
At the Wankhede, Riyan Parag reflected on his journey of the past year and what went behind the scenes that helped him pile up big runs in domestic cricket.
“I have had three to four years of not performing at all. And you really go back to your hotel room and you think… that when you know you can do something and the performances are not coming, you get back to the drawing [board]. I tried finding what was wrong, and I figured out that I was not practicing at this level enough,”
Parag said.
“So I went back after the [last] season and practised very hard, and I think that’s showing now. I’ve practiced [against] these types of quick balls and these kinds of scenarios a lot, hence the performances.”
Wasim Jaffer believes Parag, who also bowls off-spin regularly for Assam, could soon be included in Team India’s white-ball plans.
Jaffer tweeted,
“In just 3 inns, Riyan has turned his critics into admirers. Such a funny game. It does reward you if you keep working hard. No. 4 is actually his right spot. RR management should be praised for identifying that and backing him. Keep going, India call up not far away.”
