Former UFC flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko is preparing for her third fight with the current champion Alex Grasso at UFC 306. The event will grace the Octagon at the Sphere in Vegas. The event is rebranded as Riyadh Season Noche UFC, and it will be the world’s biggest fight promotion’s debut at the Sphere.
UFC 306’s main event is the highly anticipated title fight between UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley and Merab Dvalishvili. Grasso vs Valentina is the co-main event of the main card.
Grasso and Valentina’s first fight was in UGC 285 in March 2023. Grasso had submitted Valentina in the fourth round and clinched the title. The two powers in flyweight fought again in the first Noche event in September 2023. The fight ended in a draw, and thereby Grasso kept the belt.
Valentina Laughs Hearing Grasso Commenting On Her Fighting Style
Ahead of their third fight at Noche UFC 306, Alex Grasso had sent a dig at Schevchenko in an interview with MMA Junkie, saying that the latter’s fighting style is so defensive and she will have to change that to clinch her title back.
“She has a style where she waits too much. … If you want to get your belt back, I don’t think that’s the way to do that,” said Grasso.
Valentina burst into laughter hearing that
”So she is planning to secure her victory, she is not planning to go forward? This is what she [Grasso] said? So she’s going to be on her side of the octagon expecting me to be on my side? That’s hilarious. Oh my God…I’m just going to bring my spirit. I’m going to bring my power and my speed and I’m going to bring my experience to the fight. The No. 1 goal what I have to do in this fight is be myself. I don’t have to play someone’s game,’ said Valentino.’
