SRH vs RCB Match Highlights And Report-IPL: In an unexpected outcome, the high-flying, marauding Sunrisers Hyderabad have been defeated by the bottom-of-the-table Royal Challengers Bengaluru. RCB keep their mathematical chances of reaching the playoffs alive with their second win of the tournament out of 9 matches; this win comes exactly a month after their first win of the season.
Rajat Patidar played a stunning knock of 50 (20) that was instrumental in RCB crossing 200, while Virat Kohli top-scored with 51 but took 43 balls. Defending 206, RCB’s bowlers used the two-paced nature of the Hyderabad pitch effectively and won the game by 35 runs.

Faf du Plessis won the toss and elected to bat first. In a nutshell, RCB dominated the powerplay, scoring 61 for the loss of du Plessis, who scored 25 in 12 balls. Kohli was aggressive early on, scoring 32 runs in 18 balls.
However, after the powerplay, Kohli slowed down dramatically, even by his own dodgy standards of the past few seasons. After the field restrictions were lifted, Kohli managed only 19 runs in 25 balls, eventually managing a strike rate of only 118.
At the other end, it was a different show: the Patidar show. The number 4 RCB batter smoked Mayank Markande for five sixes and raced to a 19-ball half-century, while Kohli reached his fifty in 37 balls. Both were dismissed by Jaydev Unadkat, caught in the deep on the legside.
Dinesh Karthik and Mahipal Lomror didn’t make much, but it was Cameron Green who powered RCB to 206 with his 37* (20).

This wasn’t the flat Hyderabad pitch, and it showed when the in-form Travis Head was top-edged off-spinner Will Jacks in the first over for a rare cheap dismissal for the Aussie opener in IPL 2024. Abhishek Sharma did clatter 31 runs in only 13 balls, but his dismissal in the 4th over, to a bumper from Dayal, triggered SRH’s collapse.
It was the 5th over, bowled by left-arm spinner Swapnil Singh, that truly gave RCB the belief that they could indeed win this game as Swapnil got Markram LBW and Klaasen caught at mid-on through a mistimed slog.
SRH were 56/4 after 5 overs, and RCB pressed on the momentum. Leg-spinner Karn Sharma got Nitish Reddy and Abdul Samad for low scores as SRH slumped to 85/6.
Shahbaz Ahmed (40* off 37) and Pat Cummins (31 off 15) added some runs lower down the order to mitigate the net run rate damage. SRH managed 171 runs in the end, and RCB finally clinched their second win in the competition.
Score Summary: Royal Challengers Bengaluru 206/7 in 20 overs (Virat Kohli 51, Jaydev Unadkat 3/30); Sunrisers Hyderabad 171/8 in 20 overs (Shahbaz Ahmed 40, Cameron Green 2/12). RCB defeated SRH by 35 runs.
