Sharfuddoula Saikat, the third umpire of the Australia vs India 4th Test in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, gave out to Yashasvi Jaiswal even though the Snicko didn’t show any evidence favoring the bowler’s appeal.

Sharfuddoula Saikat Gave Yashasvi Jaiswal Out, Was It Wrong?
The umpire called it not out, but the Aussie skipper asked for a review. During the review, Snicko showed no evidence of the ball touching the bat or gloves, and everyone was expecting the third umpire, Sharfuddoula Saikat, to go with the first umpire’s decision. But the Bangladesh umpire Sharfuddoula asked the first umpire to overturn his original decision, saying that he could see the ball touching the bat.
“I can see the ball has made contact with the gloves. Joel, you need to change your decision,” said Sharfuddoula.

The decision was catered by the replay in which the ball was taking a slight deflection after it passed the batter. Despite Snicko’s lack of evidence, Sharfuddoula decided to trust the naked-eye for the evidence.
Former Australia cricketer and umpire Simon Taufel said that the third umpire was right in giving the bowler the wicket.
“In my view, that decision was out. The third umpire did make the correct decision in the end,” said Taufel.
The wicket became a game changer as none of India’s other batters performed up to the mark, and the visitors eventually got defeated by a whopping 184 runs.
