Sameer Rizvi Personal Life
Sameer Rizvi is from Meerut in Uttar Pradesh. His family belongs to Lohia village, but they live in the Lal Kurti area of the city. He grew up in a simple household and is one of four siblings.
From a young age, Sameer was fully focused on cricket. He had very little interest in studies and did not complete high school. His father often told him to study, but at the same time, he kept supporting him. His father would take him to the ground, wait, and bring him back home after practice.
A big role in his life was played by his maternal uncle, Tankeeb Akhtar, who is also his coach. Sameer started going to the ground with him at around five years old. That is where he learned batting and built his game. His uncle noticed early that he could hit the ball well. Sameer has been playing cricket for around eight years. He has already captained teams at Under-14, Under-16, and Under-19 levels. He has also played for India B in Under-19 cricket.
In the IPL 2024 auction, Chennai Super Kings bought him for ₹8.40 crore, which made him one of the most expensive young players that year. Even his family and coach did not expect such a big price.
Sameer says his success comes from hard work and family support. He also shared that he had tough moments when he did not score runs. His biggest goal is to play for the Indian national team one day.
Sameer Rizvi Contract
Sameer Rizvi is currently playing for Delhi Capitals. In the IPL 2025 mega auction, Delhi did not spend a huge amount on him. They bought him for ₹95 lakh, which made him a low-cost player compared to many others in the league.
In an IPl 2026 match against Lucknow Super Giants, he scored an unbeaten 70. And helped the team recover from 26/4 to win the game. Because of this, his performance was seen as much bigger than his price.
His per-match cost comes to around ₹6.79 lakh based on his contract. But in that one game, his performance value was estimated at around ₹29.57 lakh. That means Delhi got a “profit value” of about ₹22.79 lakh from just one match.
