Royal Challengers Bengaluru Unwanted Home Record: Royal Challengers Bengaluru will take on Kolkata Knight Riders in Match 10 of IPL 2024 in Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium as the home side will be looking to break a dismal record.
Both these teams will go into this contest having won their last match. While KKR has won their one and only match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, RCB lost their first match to defending champions Chennai Super Kings and won their second against the Punjab Kings.
But it is not only cricket that dominates the narrative of this contest. This will be a clash between RCB star-batter Virat Kohli and KKR mentor Gautam Gambhir. The last time Kohli’s team battled Gambhir’s team, tempers flared during and even after the match.
Another narrative that is not being talked about as much going into this match is the fact that RCB have lost their last five encounters against the Knight Riders at Chinnaswamy.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru Unwanted Home Record
In 2016, the year RCB reached the final, KKR defeated RCB in Bengaluru by 5 wickets as Yusuf Pathan and Andre Russel shined for the Purple and Gold side. In 2017, this fixture belonged to Sunil Narine, who scored a blistering 17 ball 54, he also dismissed Mandeep Singh and AB de Villiers as KKR won by 6 wickets.

In 2018, while it was Virat Kohli who was the best performer in the match, KKR again won by six wickets as Chris Lynn scored a measured 62. In 2019, RCB put up a massive total of 205. But in what was a banter year for the franchise as they finished last on the table, quick knocks by Chris Lynn, Nitish Rana, and Player of the Match Andre Russell took KKR home with a 5-wicket win.
Their last encounter at Chinnaswamy happened in 2023. This time, it was KKR who got to set a target. On the back of great knocks by Jason Roy and Nitish Rana, they scored 200 runs in the first innings. While chasing, RCB had their tyres popped by Varun Chakravarthy and his three-wicket haul as KKR won by 21 runs.
This time, the flow of the league is in RCB’s favor as all nine matches in the league this season have been won by the home side. So either the record of KKR winning their last five matches in Chinnaswamy will be broken, or a home team will finally lose in IPL 2024 tonight and Royal Challengers Bengaluru will face Kolkata Knight Riders.
