Real Madrid Eyeing Lionel Scaloni: Spanish giants Real Madrid are reportedly looking to sign current Argentina men’s national team manager Lionel Scaloni as Real’s current manager Carlo Ancelotti is not expected to re-sign with the club.
Ancelotti’s second stint at Los Blancos started in June 2021. Since then, he has won it all with the club – La Liga, Champions League, Copa Del Ray, the Club World Cup, and more. In 2021, he signed a three-year contract with Real Madrid which is set to expire in June 2024.

As per Real Madrid Eyeing Lionel Scaloni Reports have emerged recently that Ancelotti will not be signing an extension with the Madrid-based club. Instead, the Italy-born manager is set to reduce his workload and manage a national team, most specifically the Brazilian national side.
It then makes it interesting that Real Madrid is reportedly targeting the current Argentina manager Scaloni for the job. Reports have come out from sources that Lionel Scaloni’s agency has been contacted by Real Madrid.

Scaloni, who won the 2021 Copa America and the 2022 FIFA World Cup with Argentina, has a contract with the national team until 2026. In that period, there is another Copa America and a World Cup that Argentina will definitely be looking to retain.
But having won the first international titles for Argentina as a manager in the 21st century (besides the 2008 Olympic gold medal), Scaloni might be looking for new avenues in his coaching career. He might be up to the challenge of managing arguably the biggest football club in the world.

What makes this situation a little more interesting is the fact that Scaloni is a mentor and a very good friend of Lionel Messi, who spent the majority of his career trying to defeat and humiliate Real Madrid as part of FC Barcelona. Messi was seen as the flagbearer for the Catalan club in their rivalry against Real, a rivalry that, in some regards, extends past the bounds of a football pitch. But situations like that should not, and will not stop Scaloni from getting a high-paying job at Real Madrid.

Lionel Scaloni has a long history with the country of Spain. He spent his prime playing for Deportivo La Caruna. The club was one of the biggest success stories in world football around the turn of the millennium. Scaloni won La Liga with Deportivo in 1999/2000 and even made the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League in 2004. The 45-year-old has even claimed that Spain is his second home. Suffice it to say he might like his stay in Madrid.
