Randy Orton On His Relationship With John Cena: WWE Superstar Randy Orton has reflected on his early days in the company, especially his relationship with on-screen rival and fellow legend of the business John Cena back then.
The Apex Predator is one of the most prolific WWE wrestlers of all time. With over 22 years of active competition, he has wrestled the most matches of any current wrestler in the company.
Orton made his debut all the way back in 2002. Being a third-generation superstar, there were a lot of signs even back then that he would become a multi-time World Champion. However, his career did not take an upturn until 2003, when he was recruited by Triple H in what is now considered the greatest WWE faction of the 2000s, Evolution, alongside Ric Flair and Batista.

During his time in the stable, Randy won the Intercontinental Championship and wrestled some of his first great matches alongside the likes of Mick Foley. His time in the group ended with him becoming the youngest World Champion in company history.
Since then, The Viper has become a 14-time World Champion, an absolute legend, and a future first-ballot Hall of Famer.
Orton’s biggest rival throughout his career has to be John Cena. The two were the biggest names in wrestling in the 2000s and the 2010s. And while Randy was the biggest heel in the company, Cena was the biggest babyface. The two competed countless times on TV and on pay-per-views.

Cena and Orton also share a strong friendship backstage, which the latter opened up about in a recent interview. On a recent appearance on WWE Champion Cody Rhodes’ interview show ‘What Do You Wanna Talk About?’, The Legend Killer discussed his early days in the WWE and how he was yet to earn the respect of his seniors but was already respected by his fellow young star John Cena.
“I think even though I trusted Triple H, Ric Flair, and all those guys, but I think just the camaraderie between me and John, being cool. I don’t know that those guys at that time respected me. I think John [Cena] respected me, and I think he respected me for certain things I was capable of doing in the ring, and just feeling that respect from him made me have this trust for him, that I could trust him to lead the way. And I could trust him that anything he’s telling me, it’s like it’s gold, and he’s telling me how he does it,” said Randy.
Even 22 years after his debut, Randy Orton is still on top of the card. He will face World Heavyweight Champion Gunther for the title at the upcoming Bash In Berlin Premium Live Event. The show will emanate live from the Uber Arena in Berlin, Germany, on August 31.
