PBKS vs MI Match Highlights And Report-IPL: The Punjab Kings were involved in another last-over thriller: this was their sixth match out of seven this season that the game was alive till the last over, and for the fourth time in these encounters, they suffered a defeat.
The match looked firmly in Mumbai Indians’ pocket when PBKS were 14/4 and then 76/6 while chasing 193. But their two biggest heroes of the season, Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma, produced a sensational fightback. Ashutosh remained till the death overs, and a victory for Punjab looked possible; however, he couldn’t remain till the last over to see off the chase.
Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah returned with another mind-boggling, world-class bowling performance in a high-scoring encounter and bagged the Player of the Match award.

Sam Curran, the PBKS captain, won the toss and elected to bowl first. Kagiso Rabada got rid of Ishan Kishan (8 runs) early on, but Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav then formed a big second-wicket stand.
Yadav, who was dismissed for a duck in his previous innings, was severe from the onset of his knock. MI. After 11 overs, MI were 96/1 but lost Rohit (36 of 25) to Curran’s slower ball. Rohit and Suryakumar had a partnership of 81 (57); SKY then had another important stand: 49 (28) with Tilak Varma.
Suryakumar notched his second fifty of the season; however, he got tied down in the middle of his innings. He did hit some hefty blows in the end to finish with 78 (53), but a strike rate of 147 isn’t really typical SKY.
Varma gave a grandstand finish with 34* (18), but MI lost four wickets in their last 13 balls, finishing at 192.

Wickets of Harpreet Singh Bhatia and Jitesh Sharma sank Punjab further. The chase looked completely out of reach when Shashank got out in the 13th over, to a slower ball from Bumrah, after blasting 41 runs in 25 balls.
Ashutosh, who is arguably the best debutant of the season, gave Punjab hope, and then some more. The best shot of the night came from the 25-year-old as he bent low and scooped-cum-swept Bumrah for a six!
Ashutosh and Harpreet Brar took 13 runs off Coetzee and then 24 runs off Akash Madhwal to drag PBKS back in the chase. With 28 runs required off 24 balls, Bumrah was called back and he conceded only three runs, ending with figures of 3/21.
Ashutosh fell on the first ball of the 18th over, caught at deep mid-wicket off Coetzee. He played a blinder of a knock of 61 (28) with 7 sixes! In the next over, Hardik dismissed Brar but conceded a six from Rabada.
With 11 runs required off the last six balls and only one wicket in hand, Rabada stroked Madhwal in the deep on the off-side. Rabada tried to return for the second run but was found short and got run-out. MI won by 9 runs.
Score summary: Mumbai Indians 192/7 in 20 overs (Suryakumar Yadav 78, Harshal Patel 3/31); Punjab Kings 183/10 in 19.1 overs (Ashutosh Sharma 61, Jasprit Bumrah 3/21). MI defeated PBKS by 9 runs.
