MUL vs ISL Match Highlights And Report-PSL Final: Islamabad won their third PSL trophy while the Multan Sultans lost their third final in three years in an epic last-ball thriller on Monday night in Karachi. Mohammad Rizwan’s team suffered Déjà vu of losing to Lahore Qalandars on the last ball in last year’s PSL final.
Imad Wasim was once again the Man of the Match. For the third game in a row, all three being knockout matches, Wasim has bagged the award for the best player of the game. He stepped further up in the final with a five-wicket haul and then scored 19* runs with the bat, remaining till the end to see Islamabad over the line in the chase of 160.
Rizwan won the toss and elected to bat first. Imad struck twice in the second over of the match, with wickets of Yasir Khan and David Willey. While Rizwan and Usman Khan formed a 53-run third-wicket stand, the pair took 47 balls to do so. The Multan captain failed to capitalize after setting in as he was dismissed for a run-a-ball 26 by Shadab Khan, the United skipper.
From thereon, United got on top with a flurry of wickets as Multan slipped from 57/2 to 127/9, with Imad Wasim completing a terrific five-wicket haul.
As it looked like Multan would end up with an under-par total, veteran cricketer Iftikhar Ahmed stepped up in a sensational manner by blasting 3 fours and 3 sixes in his knock of 32* (20) that took his side to 159.

Multan Sultans vs Islamabad United Final PSL Report
It still seemed like an under-par total, but it gave Multan a good fighting chance, especially under the pressure of a final. And Multan did fight bravely. Munro, returning after missing a few games due to injury, got four boundaries in his 17-run innings before Khushdil Shah struck with Munro and Agha Salman’s wicket. Shadab was bowled for only 4 runs by Iftikhar.
Martin Guptill brought in all his experience to handle the pressure and the required rate with his knock of 50 (32), but Guptill’s wicket in the 13th over made the game even more interesting.
A gripping phase followed where while Islamabad batters got regular boundaries, Multan bowlers kept striking back to keep the game in balance.
Imad and Naseem Shah had a match-winning partnership of 30 (16), in which Naseem smashed 17 (9). With 8 needed off the last over, pacer Mohammad Ali was tasked by Rizwan. After Naseem collected a boundary on the second ball, Ali struck with Naseem’s wicket when one run was needed off two balls.
On the last ball, number 10 batter Hunain Shah calmly placed an off-side delivery behind point and perfectly found the game between point and short third-man, which sealed the final and the PSL 2024 trophy for Islamabad United.
