MS Dhoni comments about New CSK captain: There is perhaps no cricketer who has the wits and elite sense of humor akin to MS Dhoni. Just like his majestic, pure timing of striking the cricket ball, the former India and CSK captain has terrific timing of cracking witty one-liners that are always up his sleeve.
Recently, during an event for the CSK players, Dhoni joked about the team having a new captain. His comment sparked laughter in the audience.
CSK have won both of their matches under new skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad and are sitting at the top of the points table. During their latest match, against the Gujarat Titans, Rachin Ravindra dropped a catch at extra cover. It was a tough catch. The dropped chance didn’t cost much to CSK, as they eventually won by a huge margin of 63 runs.
In the event, the anchor nudged whether he looked at MS Dhoni after spilling the catch. Before Rachin could answer, Dhoni promptly said, “There’s a new captain huh.”
This hilarious remark from the 42-year-old caused a burst of laughter among everyone in the room, including Ravindra Jadeja and Shivam Dube, who were sitting beside Dhoni.
Dhoni then said Gaikwad is similar to him regarding keeping calm. He supported Rachin for his dropped catch, saying that the youngster is playing in his first few games in the IPL and missed catches can happen.
MS Dhoni added,
“It’s there but I’m not somebody who reacts a lot, especially at somebody who is playing their first or second game. So yeah. And I think Rutu (Ruturaj Gaikwad) is quite the same. But it was fun to watch him (Rachin) move all around like 360 (degrees) he was everywhere, felt like he was dancing.”

Dhoni stepped down as CSK’s captain a day before the start of the IPL 2024 season.
Gaikwad revealed that he was informed of Dhoni’s decision a week before the start of the tournament and that he had been hinted at it a year in advance.
“Last year itself, Mahi bhai had hinted about captaincy at some point of time,” Gaikwad told IPLT20.com. “He just hinted that, ‘be ready, it shouldn’t be a surprise to you’. When we came into the camp, he involved me in some of the match simulation.”
CSK’s next match is against Delhi Capitals on Sunday in Vizag.
