MI-W vs UPW-W Match Highlights And Report-WPL: UP Warriorz defeated the Mumbai Indians in Match 6 of the Women’s Premier League 2024 in what was their first win this season.
We are still in the early stages of this year’s WPL and this might have been the first major upset of the tournament. The Warriorz did not have a good start to the tournament, losing their first two matches to Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals.

In their third match, they took on defending champion Mumbai Indians. The match, which was being played in Begaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium, saw the UP-based franchise win the toss and choose to bowl first.
Mumbai’s openers, star all-rounder Hayley Matthews and wicketkeeper Yastika Bhatia gave the team a solid start, together forming a 50-run partnership before Bhatia was dismissed by Grace Harris.

From this point on, MI failed to form a big and solid partnership. Nat Sciver-Brunt was run out at 92. Soon after, Matthews departed after scoring a 47-ball-55.
Some decent hitting towards the end by Issy Wong and Pooja Vastrakar saw MI reach a respectable score of 161/6 at the end of their 20.
It was now the turn of the UP Warriorz to bat, and the opening pair of Kiran Navgire and captain Alyssa Healy gave the team a flying start. By the time Navgire was dismissed for 57, the team had scored 94 runs in just 9 overs.
While the team had a scare when they lost two more wickets in quick succession, Grace Harris and Deepti Sharma brought the team home for a comfortable 7-wicket win with 21 balls to spare.

For her quickfire 57 off 31 balls, Kiran Navgire was named the player of the match. Despite winning this match, UP Warriorz did not move up in the table. They are still fourth in a five-team tournament with two points in 3 matches and a net run rate of -0.357.
