MI vs DC Match Highlights And Report-IPL: After starting the season with three losses, Hardik Pandya’s Mumbai Indians registered their first two points on the points table. And they did it in some style, by bashing 234 runs against Delhi Capitals and winning by 29 runs, sending a resounding message to the other franchises.
This was made possible by a couple of tweaks in Mumbai’s lineup. Although Suryakumar Yadav bagged a duck on his return to action, his presence allowed MI to play Romario Shepherd in the XI instead of Brevis, and the West Indian all-rounder struck gold instantly by blasting 39 runs in 10 balls to take MI to 234. The winning margin of 29 runs tells you how crucial his lusty blows were in the last over to Anrich Nortje, where 32 runs were scored.

Rishabh Pant won the toss and elected to field first, which was a surprising decision for a day match since there would be no dew factor to assist the chasing team. Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan started in gung-ho fashion by taking 75 runs in the powerplay. Axar Patel then dismissed both the MI openers, Rohit for 49 (27) and Kishan for 42 (23).
MI had a lean phase in the middle overs when they lost multiple wickets and Hardik, who scored 39 (33), couldn’t really get the boundaries regularly. After 15 overs, MI had scored 138, and then came a proper onslaught, first from Tim David, then from Shepherd.
MI plundered 96 runs in the last five overs. David cracked 4 sixes and 2 fours in his 45* (21) innings, while Shepherd clobbered 4 sixes and 3 fours in his 39* (10) innings; four of those sixes came in the last over against Nortje.

Tristan Stubbs led Delhi’s fight till the end. The young South African hit 7 sixes and 3 fours in his innings of 71* (25). This helped Delhi mitigate the net run rate damage.
For Mumbai, Gerald Coetzee took four wickets, three of which came in the last over. Jasprit Bumrah took the scalps of Shaw and Porel. Shepherd, who picked up Warner’s wicket, bagged the Player of the Match award.
