The Argentine World Cup winner might have scored several beautiful goals in his career, but his 8-year-old son Mateo Messi might have just one-upped his father when it comes to scoring spectacular goals.
When Messi transferred to MLS side Inter Miami, he moved with his entire family to the South Beach. His middle son, Mateo, is in the Inter Miami youth team.
Mateo Messi Scores Spectacular Goal
In a recent match for his side, Mateo scored a superb bicycle kick goal. In a video of the moment that was captured, a defender of the opposition team failed to make a headed clearance. This saw the ball come flying into the box. Mateo Messi quickly eyed the ball and reached where it was about to land. But rather than waiting for the ball to land, the 8-year-old hit a bicycle kick. The ball then looped over the goalkeeper and other defenders and landed right into the goal. He then celebrated the goal with his teammates.

It must be noted that Lionel Messi has scored a goal with a bicycle kick in his career. In PSG’s season opener of the 2022 Ligue 1 season, Messi scored a bicycle kick goal during his side’s 5-0 win over Clermont. But looking at the bicycle kicks scored by the two Messis, most can argue that it was Mateo who made the better connection with the ball and scored the more spectacular goal.
