UFC CEO Dana White announced the fights for the upcoming UFC 311, which will blow your mind. Makhachev vs Tsarukyan 2 is set to be the main event of the fight card which also has a lot of incredible fights lined up. The event is set to take place at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, on January 18 (January 19 for the Indian audience).
Dana Announces Makhachev vs Tsarukyan 2, Merab vs Umar for UFC 311
In a recently released video, Dana announced that lightweight GOAT Khabib Nurmagamedov’s prodigies Islam Makhachev and Umar Nurmagamedov will fight on the same card. While Islam is defending his lightweight belt against Arman Tsarukyan, Umar will have his first UFC title fight against Merab Dvalishvili in the Bantamweight division.
Islam Makhachev has aleeady met Arman Tsarukyan in 2019 in a short notice fight in the promotional debut of the latter. the fight was one of the most exciting ones to watch with a lot of high level grappling exchanges and at the end Dagestani won the fight unanimusly. After that, Islam went on to win multiple fights and won the lightweight title on October 2022.
Arman has won 9 out of the 10 fights after losing to Islam. He also has a split decision win over former champion Charles Oliveira.
As their first fight was so competitive, the hype around the Islam Makhachev vs Arman Tsarukyan 2 second fight will be unreal among the fans.
Talking about the co-main event, Merab won the UFC Bantamweight title by beating Sean O’Malley at the UFC 306 in last September. Umar on the other hand is considered as the best 135 lb fighter in the world with a massive 18-0 record in professional MMA.
