LSG vs CSK Match Highlights And Report-IPL: LSG captain KL Rahul and his opening partner Quinton de Kock formed a massive opening partnership of 134 runs in 15 overs that made the chase of 177 runs against CSK comfortable for the rest of the batters.
This is now CSK’s third loss away from home in four matches this season. The crowd, though, did get what they had wished to see: an MS Dhoni blast. The 42-year-old smashed 3 fours and 2 sixes in his 28* (9) to make the money worth it for the fans at the Ekana stadium.

Rahul won the toss and elected to bowl first. Mohsin Khan struck first, rattling the stumps of Rachin Ravindra for a duck. The bigger wicket for LSG came in the form of CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, who edged Yash Thakur to Rahul after scoring 17 runs in 13 balls.
Ajinkya Rahane played a scratchy innings but did play some typically exquisite shots to take CSK to 51 in the powerplay. He was bowled for 36 (24) by Krunal Pandya, who also got young Sameer Rizvi stumped. Marcus Stoinis struck with the massive wicket of the in-form Shivam Dube, who tried to take on Stoinis’ back-of-length delivery but top-edged it to Rahul.
At the other end, Ravindra Jadeja was promoted to number 4 as Daryl Mitchell was dropped for Moeen Ali. Jadeja batted steadily, collecting boundaries while also playing a relatively less risky game. He was 33 (24) when he and Moeen started CSK’s rebuild.
After three quiet overs, Jadeja lofted Mohsin for a six down the ground to notch up his half-century, off 33 balls, and bring out his famous sword celebration. Moeen walloped three consecutive sixes to Ravi Bishnoi before holing at deep mid-wicket when attempting a fourth six.
The last couple of overs were Dhoni-mania. He carved Mohsin for a four and six and then went berserk in the last over by clobbering Yash for a massive 101-meter six along with a couple of fours as CSK ended with 176 on the board.

In the chase, de Kock played a couple of attractive strokes, but it was Rahul who was majestic with his pulls, and uppish drives and cuts. The pair took down CSK’s medium pacers Deepak Chahar and Tushar Deshpande in the powerplay. LSG ended the powerplay in a strong position at 54/0.
The platform was set, and the duo continued to build on it. CSK have arguably been the best bowling team in the middle-overs this season. However, Rahul and de Kock were too good for CSK and even Matheesha Pathirana was ineffective.
Rahul ramped a six off Pathirana, who then dropped de Kock’s catch in the next over. The duo hit Jadeja for three fours in the 11th over of the innings, in which Rahul reached his fifty off 31 balls, and LSG moved ahead in the game.
De Kock got to his half-century off 41 balls in the 15th over, in which he fell to Mustafizur. But the wicket came a bit too late for CSK as LSG needed 43 runs in 30 balls, a task that was made simpler with Nicholas Pooran whacking a six and two fours in the first five balls that he faced.
Rahul eventually fell to Pathirana, courtesy of a one-handed blinder from Jadeja at point. The LSG captain had almost steered his side home with his 82 (53). Pooran and Stoinis saw off the rest of the runs. LSG won by 8 wickets with 6 balls to spare.
Score summary: Chennai Super Kings 176/6 in 20 overs (Ravindra Jadeja 57, Krunal Pandya 2/16); Lucknow Super Giants 180/2 in 19 overs (KL Rahul 82, Matheesha Pathirana 1/29). LSG defeated CSK by 8 wickets.
