List Of All Award Winners In IPL 2025: After 17 years of wait, in which they suffered heartbreak after heartbreak, including three IPL final losses, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Virat Kohli lifted their maiden IPL title on Tuesday night at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
RCB, led by Rajat Patidar in his debut captaincy season, defeated the Punjab Kings (PBKS), who were also hunting their maiden IPL title, in Ahmedabad by a small margin of six runs.
This match was a microcosm of RCB’s entire IPL 2025 campaign as it was a collective effort from the entire team, with several players chipping in with vital contributions.
RCB lost an important toss, but as it turned out, Shreyas Iyer, the PBKS skipper, perhaps made the incorrect decision of electing to bowl first.
None of the RCB batsmen got a fifty, but plenty of them got starts and played impactful innings. Virat Kohli top-scored with 43 runs, while four other batsmen scored between 20 and 30. Phil Salt and Romario Shepherd scored 16 and 17 runs, respectively, but they did it in only 9 and balls each, which turned out to be crucial in the eventual result.
Chasing 191, PBKS got off to a decent start with the top three of Prabhsimran Singh, Priyansh Arya, and Josh Inglis managing 72 runs in 8.2 overs. From there on, though, RCB pulled things back and gradually the game shifted in their favor.
Shreyas Iyer, who had played the innings of his life against the Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2, was dismissed for only one run and that further boosted RCB’s momentum. The RCB bowlers then pounced on the PBKS batsmen, as nerves got the better of them.
Krunal Pandya, who was the Man of the Match in the IPL 2017 final for MI, delivered a bowling performance for the ages, returning with figures of only 2/17 in his quota of four overs. Shashank Singh tried hard till the last ball but his 61* off 30 went in vain.
