KKR Celebrate Andre Russell Birthday After DC Win: Kolkata Knight Riders players and staff celebrated Andre Russell’s birthday in the hotel following a massive win over the Delhi Capitals.
KKR took on DC in Match 47 of IPL 2024 in Kolkata’s Eden Gardens. The away side won the toss and chose to bat first, immediately regretting the decision. Within the first seven overs, DC was four down at 60-odd runs.
Captain Rishabh Pant and Axar Patel did try to salvage the inning, but it was of no use as they were 11/8 in the 15th over. It was Kuldeep Yadav who took them past the 150-run mark.

KKR, as usual, went off to a flyer to start their inning and never looked back. By the time the powerplay ended, the Knight Riders were 79/0, and the match was practically over. The home side chased the target down with seven wickets and 21 balls remaining.
The match was played on April 29, which is also KKR star-allrounder Andre Russell’s birthday. The Jamaican cricketer turned 36 on the day of an impressive victory.
The birthday boy didn’t get to do much in the match. He just bowled one over for his team and did not come out to bat. Despite this, the win would make this a memorable one for Russell.

Following the match, KKR took to social media to post a video showing the team camp celebrating Russell’s birthday with cake. KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan posed for a picture with the West Indian as well.
With that win, KKR remains second in the league table and further solidifies their bid for the playoffs. In nine matches, the Knight Riders have won six matches and have 12 points on the table.
KKR will face the Mumbai Indians in their next match on May 3 at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.
