KKR Beats DC By 106 Runs In IPL 2024: Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Delhi Capitals in Match 16 of IPL 2024 after nearly breaking the record of most runs scored in an innings in league history, recently created by Sunrisers Hyderabad.
The match was played in Vishakhapatnam’s ACA-VDCA Stadium, which is the second home ground for DC this season. KKR won the toss and decided to bat first. After the pair’s recent success, it seems that the Knight Riders have finally settled on Phil Salt and Sunil Narine as their opening pair.

The two came to bat and started whacking the ball around the pitch. While Salt dealt in 4s, Narine was making the ball sail over the boundary. KKR scored 60 in just the fifth over when they lost Salt for 18.
But then came Angkrish Raghuvanshi. India’s U-19 star came in to bat for the first time in his IPL career. And boy did he bat, scoring a half-century at the strike rate of 200 in just his second IPL match.
Mind you, Narine never stopped slogging from one end. Everyone realized we might have another record-breaking innings at our hands when KKR reached the 150-run mark soon after the halfway point of the innings.

Whoever came in to bat kept the train rolling. After Angkrish and Narine were dismissed, Andre Russel scored 41-off-19, captain Shreyas Iyer scored 18-off-11, and Rinku Singh scored 26-off-8.
The Kolkata-based franchised finished their 20 overs at 272/7, five runs short of the highest score ever in an IPL innings, set by Sunrisers Hyderabad in Match 8 of this season against the Mumbai Indians.
Although Delhi Capitals might have been out of the contest before their batting even started, they tried to give it a fight. The openers got off to some start before Prithvi Shaw was dismissed at the team score of 21 in the second over. Mitchell Marsh then fell for a duck as Mitchell Starc took his first wicket in IPL 2024. Abhishek Porel and David Warner too departed quickly after as DC was on 54/4 at the end of the powerplay.
From this point, Tristan Stubbs and captain Rishabh Pant took charge. The two had a 93-run partnership in less than eight overs. One of the overs saw Pant hit Varun Chakravarthy for 28 runs. But when Pant and Stubbs fell, it was game over for the Capitals
DC were bowled out for 166 as KKR won the match by a whopping 106 runs. The Knight Riders are now on the top of the league table with three wins in three matches, having leaped past Rajasthan Royals due to a better run rate, which was aided a lot by this match.
Tonight, Gujarat Titans will take on the Punjab Kings in Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.
