This news comes hours before the Punjab Kings’ upcoming match against the Rajasthan Royals in Match 65 of IPL 2024. This match will not impact the tournament standings too much, as the Royals have already qualified for the playoffs and the Kings are out of the tournament. The Kings, captained by Sam Curran for most of the season, will not be impacted much by Rabada’s absence on account of them being out of the race to the playoffs.
The cricket governing body of the nation further went on to say that the 28-year-old’s preparations for the upcoming T20 World Cup will not be affected.
Rabada did not have the best IPL in 2024. In the 11 matches he played, he took 11 wickets with an average of 33.82. These are not the numbers of a franchise’s strike bowler.
Kagiso Rabada has been named in South Africa’s squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup, to commence on June 2 in the West Indies and the United States, and is expected to be a crucial piece of the squad.
South Africa will be in Group D of the tournament. They will kick off their competition on June 3 against Sri Lanka. They will play the Netherlands in their next game on June 8. A game against Bangladesh comes next on June 10, followed by the last group-stage match against Nepal on June 14.
