Jake Weatherald is an Australian cricketer from Darwin in the Northern Territory. He plays first-class and one-day cricket for Tasmania and represents the Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League. He first came into focus during the 2015–16 season when he made his first-class debut for South Australia in the Sheffield Shield and scored two half-centuries in the final.
Weatherald is a left-handed top-order batter and moved to the Hurricanes from the Adelaide Strikers. He made his Big Bash debut in BBL|06 for South Australia. In 93 BBL matches, he has scored 2176 runs with an average of 25.6 and a strike rate of 131.24. His highest score in the league is 115. He also won the Ricky Ponting Medal last season as the best player in domestic cricket for the Tasmanian Tigers.

Jake Weatherald’s Personal Life
Weatherald grew up in Darwin, where cricket felt easy and pressure was low. He later moved to Adelaide at 15 and realized he was lazy and not organized. That change made him work harder and take cricket seriously.
Twice after the pandemic, he stepped away from cricket to look after his mental health. He was diagnosed with obsessive-compulsive disorder and also went through depression. He lost interest in things he loved, like training, fishing, music, and even daily life. He spent a lot of time in bed and stopped caring for himself.
He later moved from South Australia to Tasmania. There, he found focus and belief in his game. He accepted setbacks, worked on his method, and aimed to become a player who could not be dropped. His strong runs for Tasmania brought him close to his Australia debut and an Ashes call-up.
