ISL vs QUE Match Highlights And Report-PSL: Shadab Khan’s Islamabad United dominated the majority of the Eliminator 1 match against Rilee Rossouw’s Quetta Gladiators and won the game by 39 runs to come one step closer to the PSL 2024 final. Islamabad will meet Babar Azam’s Peshawar Zalmi in Eliminator 2, the winner of which will proceed to the final.
Martin Guptill’s half-century and then Imad Wasim’s sensational 3/12 helped United secure a comprehensive win over the Gladiators.
Shadab won the toss and elected to bat first, anticipating that the pitch in Karachi would slow down in the second half of the match. That is exactly what happened as Quetta lost five wickets in the first five overs while playing attacking shots in their chase of the target of 175.

Martin Guptill replaced the injured Colin Munro at the top of the order. Guptill, playing his first match of the season, took some time to get in before playing his shots. The Kiwi legend held one end with his knock of 56 runs in 47 balls that included 5 fours and a six while other Islamabad batters attacked.
Alex Hales, Shadab Khan, and Afgha Salman all scored between 20 and 35 at healthy strike rates. Then, Azam Khan, the powerful finisher, blasted 18 runs in 6 balls. However, United lost a flurry of wickets, two of which were run out, in the death overs. Naseem Shah’s last ball sixer, though, propelled them to 174.
Quetta Gladiators had a terrible start as they succumbed to Imad Wasim’s spin and Naseem Shah’s pace. Wasim toppled Saud Shakeel, Rossouw, and Khawaja Nafay, and Naseem took out Jason Roy. Laurie Evans got run out, leaving Quetta struggling at 16/5, and that effectively sealed the game for Islamabad.
Quetta did show some fight. Omair Yousuf scored 50 runs in 37 balls, Akeal Hosein cracked 31 in 18, and Mohammad Amir smashed 23 in 14, but that went in vain as Quetta were bowled out for 135.
United captain Shadab Khan admitted it was still not “the perfect game yet” from his side, but he was pleased to reach Eliminator 2.
