ISL vs LAQ Match Highlights And Report-PSL: Finally, after six losses in a row and one washout, defending champion Lahore Qalandars registered their first win of the PSL 2024 season, though by now they are already knocked out of the playoffs race.
Shaheen Afridi’s team defeated Shadab Khan’s Islamabad United in match number 23 of the season in Rawalpindi on Wednesday evening. It took a collective effort from a number of players for Lahore to get off the mark in the win column this season.
Rassie stars with the bat, Zaman with the ball, and Shaheen with both
Shadab Khan went against the trend of this season in Rawalpindi and elected to bowl first, and the move didn’t pay off in this game as the pitch got slower and tougher for batting in the second innings.
Even though Lahore Qalandars lost three early wickets—they were 30/3 with Sahibzada Farhan, Fakhar Zaman, and Shai Hope back in the hut—they knew a score of 165 could get them a win. So opener Rassie van der Dussen batted almost through the innings. The South African batsman scored 64 runs in 44 balls, cracking four fours and four sixes in his knock, and got out in the 19th over of Lahore’s innings.
While van der Dussen held one end, the powerful finish to Lahore was given by two lanky lads: Shaheen Afridi and David Wiese. Afridi, who promoted himself over Sikandar Raza, blasted four towering sixes in his knock of 30 runs in only 14 balls, before Wiese cracked three boundaries in his dig of 24 unbeaten runs in 11 balls. These knocks from van der Dussen, Shaheen, and Wiese helped Lahore reach 162.

Islamabad United vs Lahore Qalandars Match 23 PSL Report
Lahore’s bowlers were on the money straightaway, and for the first time in the tournament, they showed their collective might as Islamabad were left reeling at 38/6 inside seven overs. Five of the top six United players were dismissed in single-digit scores, and Colin Munro scored 15 runs before getting run out. Zaman Khan, Shaheen, and Jahandad Khan rocked Islamabad and effectively pocketed the game.
There was, though, a good fight shown by Azam Khan (29 off 19), Faheen Ashraf (41* off 31), and Naseem Shah (27 off 16), but eventually Lahore’s total of 162 proved 17 runs too much for the Islamabad lower-order.
