Harbhajan Singh trolls a Pakistani fan: Former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh replied to a Pakistani fan who said his dream is to see Pakistan players play with Indian superstars in the IPL.
On Thursday, a Pakistani cricket fan with the Twitter handle @alirazaalam123, posted edited pictures to express his wish to see the likes of Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and Mohammad Rizwan feature in the IPL, which is the biggest T20 league in the world.
This fan posted edits of Babar Azam in an RCB jersey with Virat Kohli, and Shaheen Afridi in the blue jersey of the Mumbai Indians along with Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammad Rizwan in the yellow jersey of CSK.
The fan captioned his post: “Dream for many Indian and Pakistani cricket fans….”
Harbhajan Singh trolls a Pakistani fan:
He had tagged Harbhajan Singh in his post, and the former off-spinner gave a cheeky reply, trolling the Pakistani fan.
Harbhajan commented:
“No indian have such dreams you guys please stop dreaming wake up now.”
This hilarious reply from Harbhajan went viral on Twitter, and he got support from Indians who mocked the Pakistani players.
For the uninitiated, Pakistani players have not been allowed to play in the IPL since 2009. This decision was made by the BCCI after the 2008 terrorist attacks in Mumbai.
Then, because of the political tensions between the two nations, Pakistani players were barred from entering the IPL auction. Since then, the two countries have only had one bilateral tour—Pakistan visiting India in 2012/13—and they have only met in the Asia Cup and ICC tournaments.
A few legendary Pakistani players did feature in the inaugural season in 2008. Sohail Tanvir, Younis Khan, and Kamran Akmal won the 2008 IPL title with the Rajasthan Royals. Misbah-ul-Haq played for RCB, Shahid Afridi played for the Deccan Chargers, and Shoaib Akhtar and Umar Gul bowled in the black and gold for KKR. Mohammad Hafeez, Salman Butt, Shoaib Malik, and Mohammad Asif are other Pakistani players who were part of the IPL in 2008.
Meanwhile, the IPL 2024 season is going to start on March 22, with defending champions CSK hosting RCB at the Chepauk.
