Fans React To Hardik Pandya After MI Loss: Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya looked absolutely dejected following his side’s loss against the Kolkata Knight Riders in their most recent match in the IPL 2024.
The Match 51 of IPL 2024 between MI and KKR was played in Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. The home team won the toss and chose to bat first.
In the early run, the decision looked to be the correct one, as an early ambush by the MI pace trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, and Nuwan Thushara meant the Knight Riders were reeling at 57/5.
But then, Venkatesh Iyer (70) and Manish Pandey (42) stabilized the inning and took the Knight Riders to 169 runs before getting all out in the final over.

What looked like a very achievable goal in the early run soon seemed out of reach after the Indians lost their top-order in the powerplay itself. MI kept losing wickets at regular intervals.
When captain Pandya was dismissed for just one, the score was 71/6 in the 12th over. Suryakumar Yadav kept fighting but was dismissed soon after making a 50. The whole team was dismissed for 145, with Mitchell Starc finally arriving at the party and taking four wickets.
Fans React To Hardik Pandya After MI Loss
During MI’s collapse, the camera regularly focused on Hardik, looking glum in the pavilion. And when MI lost the match, the 30-year-old captain had his head in his hands as he looked lost and confounded by his team’s performance this season.
Following the loss, fans reacted to Pandya’s look of dejection:
This has been a failure of a season for Hardik Pandya as a captain and a player. On a personal level, he has scored 198 runs in 11 games with a sub-20 average. On the other hand, he has taken eight wickets in 27 overs with an average of 37.13 and an economy of 11.
Before the season, Hardik was traded in from the Gujarat Titans and was announced as team captain. Under his leadership, the side has made several tactical errors on the field, from bowling changes to batting orders.
The Indians now have just three wins and six points in 11 matches. Even winning all their matches now will only take them to 12 points on the league table. This has not been enough for a top-four finish in the IPL since 2019, and never in the 10-team era.
For them to qualify, MI needs a staggering 19 results to go in their favor from now on, including winning all three of their remaining matches. Based on just math, this puts their qualification chance at a microscopic 0.00019%.
As for their next match, MI will face Sunrisers Hyderabad in their next match on May 6 in Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.
