ETPL 2026 Schedule: The European T20 Premier League 2026 is the latest in the long list of franchise cricket tournaments across the world. However, rather than taking place in a major cricketing country, this tournament will feature teams from several European countries that already play the sport, but where it is not too popular.

The ETPL will feature teams from four European nations, those being the Netherlands, Scotland, Ireland, and Northern Ireland. Three of these countries have already played in ICC World Cups across formats, with Ireland even holding Test match status.

Like Major League Cricket in the United States, a league where several big-name players compete to increase the popularity of the sport in the country, the European T20 Premier League will focus on doing the same in countries where the sport is already played, but is not too popular.

How Many Teams Play In The European T20 Premier League 2026?

The 2026 season of the ETPL will be the first edition of the tournament. And so, six teams from four nations will participate. The four nations being represented in the tournament are Ireland, the Netherlands, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. 

The six teams will play each other twice in a double round-robin league phase of 30 matches, followed by a qualifier between the second and third-placed teams, the winner of which will face the league leader in the final.

Each team will have a squad of 17 players. There will be a total of eight local ( from the Netherlands, Scotland, and Ireland combined) players, including two direct signings and six draft picks, seven players from full-member nations, 1-2 players from associate nations from outside Europe, and one European associate player. And so, here are the six teams competing in the European T20 Premier League 2026.

The Amsterdam Flames will represent the Dutch capital of Amsterdam. The Flames will be captained this season by Australian Cricket team T20 captain Mitchell Marsh. Some of their key players this season include former Indian test captain Ajinkya Rahane, former Netherlands national team captain Scott Edwards and explosive Australian batter Tim David.

Next up is the Rotterdam Dockers, ideally named for and representing the Dutch port city of Rotterdam. Their captain this season will be former South African skipper Faf du Plessis. Some of the players to look out for from this team are veteran Protea batter Heinrich Klaasen, his South African compatriots Donovan Ferreira and Anrich Nortje, and Dutch all-rounder Logan van Beek.

The Edinburgh Castle Rockers will represent the Scottish capital of Edinburgh. Their captain this season will be the New Zealand bowling all-rounder Mitchell Santner. Meanwhile, some of their key players include Scotland’s all-rounder Mark Watt and Pakistani all-rounder Shadab Khan, and veteran Kiwi pacer Trent Boult.

The Glasgow Cosmic, as the name suggests, are based in the Scottish city of Glasgow, known as the “European capital of culture”. The Cosmic are the only team in this competition to have a domestic captain, as Scottish batter George Munsey will lead this tea int he inaugural season of the ETPL. Some of their key players include English all-rounder Liam Livingstone, New Zealand batter Finn Allen, Scotland Cricket Team captain Richie Berrington, and the South African bowling duo of Keshav Maharaj and Lungi Ngidi.

Ireland will be represented in this competition by one team, the Dublin Guardians, based in the national capital of Dublin. The team has strong Indian roots, as they are owned by the Wall Rahul Dravid, coached by Vikram Rathour, and captained by legendary Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. This team is almost entirely filled with European players. Some of the news to look out for are Irish all-rounders George Dockrell and Harry Tector, Ireland pacer Josh Little, former Indian Cricket Team all-rounder Vijay Shankar, and New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell.

Lastly, the Belfast Wolves will be the only Northern Irish team in the competition, based out of the national capital of Belfast. Their captain this season will be Australian batting all-rounder Glenn Maxwell. Some of their key players include veteran South African batter David Miller, Kiwi wicketkeeper/batter Devon Conway, and English bowling all-rounder Chris Jordan.

What Is the ETPL 2026 Schedule?

The European T20 Premier League 2026 will kick off on Wednesday, August 26. The 30-match league stage will conclude on Thursday, September 17. The final will be played a few days later on Sunday, September 20. Here is the ETPL 2026 Schedule
