Erling Haaland has reached another major milestone in his career. He has become the second-fastest player in football history to reach 500 career goal contributions in 466 games. That figure combines goals and assists. Only Lionel Messi got there faster.
Haaland scored his 300th club goal for Manchester City against Coventry City on September 5, 2026. He reached that mark in just 368 appearances. Only Messi was faster, needing 365 games. Kylian Mbappe took 398 games, and Cristiano Ronaldo needed 499.
Haaland’s 300 club goals are spread across four teams. He scored 165 for Manchester City, 86 for Borussia Dortmund, 29 for RB Salzburg, and 20 for Molde.
Haaland reached 400 career goal contributions in 395 matches in December 2025. He was 25 years old at the time. When he passed 200 goal involvements in Europe’s top five leagues, he did it faster than Messi, Mbappe, and Ronaldo. Mbappe needed 194 matches, and Messi took 195. Haaland was quicker than both.
Lionel Messi remains the benchmark for career goal contributions. He has over 1,267 in his career. Messi reached 500 career goals in 632 appearances in April 2016. That was the fastest of any player in the 21st century.
…Also Became the Fastest Player to 60 Champions League Goals
Erling Haaland became the fastest player to reach 60 Champions League goals. He got there in just his 60th appearance in the competition. The old record belonged to Lionel Messi, who needed 80 matches. Haaland cut 20 games off that mark.
Haaland reached the milestone against Paris Saint-Germain. He scored twice in Manchester City’s 4-2 home defeat at the Etihad. He was 26 years and 85 days old when he got there. That made him one day younger than Messi was when he reached 60.
This is not the first scoring record Haaland has broken. He already held the fastest marks of 20, 30, 40, and 50 Champions League goals. He reached those in 14, 25, 35, and 49 matches. Haaland is now the seventh player to reach 60 Champions League goals. He got there ahead of Robert Lewandowski, Kylian Mbappe, Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, and Raul.
The match itself was tough for City. They trailed by three goals at halftime. PSG scored through Desire Doue, Ousmane Dembele, and Vitinha. Maghnes Akliouche made it 4-1. Haaland pulled two goals back. His first was a header in the 53rd minute. His second came in the 75th minute. Gianluigi Donnarumma saved a late penalty from Ferran Torres to keep the score at 4-2.
His two goals also made him Manchester City’s all-time top scorer in the Champions League. He went past Sergio Aguero. Haaland now has 38 Champions League goals for City. He has 61 in the competition, with plenty of time to keep climbing the all-time list.
…Continues Breaking Premier League Records
Erling Haaland continues to break records at an incredible pace. The numbers behind his Premier League career are hard to believe. He has already scored 120 Premier League goals and 65 goals for his country.

Haaland broke the record for most goals in a single Premier League season in his first campaign. He scored 36 goals in 35 appearances. That beat the old record of 34 goals set by Andy Cole and Alan Shearer. They set that record in 42-game seasons. He also broke the record for most goals in one season in all competitions by a Premier League player. He scored 52 goals.
