Cristiano Ronaldo Is The Highest-Paid Athlete: Forbes has released their list of the highest-paid athletes in the last 12 months, and to no one’s surprise, Cristiano Ronaldo tops the list despite no longer playing his football in Europe.
Forbes’ list of the highest-paid athletes is an annual affair and is a credible source of not only the income of some of the biggest athletes in the world but also of their market value and their importance in world sports.
Cristiano Ronaldo Is The Highest-Paid Athlete
The Portuguese icon has topped the list for the fourth time in his career. According to Forbes, the 39-year-old earned a staggering $260 million in the last 12 months. $200 million of those came from his lucrative three-year contract with Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr, which is worth $600 million.

The rest of CR7’s $60 million came from his off-field earnings, which include advertisements and sponsorships.
Ronaldo just pipped golfer Jon Rahm, the face of the Saudi-backed LIV Golf Tour, which has now become the sport’s most important and wealthy tour. Rahm earned $218 million and is himself on a lucrative three-year contract.
Lionel Messi rounds out the top three with $138 million, about $70 million of which comes as part of his contract with MLS side Inter Miami.
The top 10 earners, who include stars from sports like football, golf, basketball, and American football, earned $1.38 billion in the last year.
A disappointing conclusion that can be drawn from the list is that no woman is in the top 10 earners in sports. No woman even cracks the top 50.
