All Players Bought By LSG In IPL Auction 2024: The most expensive buy for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the IPL 2024 auction was young pacer Shivam Mavi. The LSG management, under new head coach Justin Langer, shelled out ₹ 6.4 crore for Mavi, who had played for KKR and GT in the past.
The Lucknow Super Giants already have a very settled first-choice playing 11 before the auction. They had made a couple of eyebrow-raising decisions in the trading window. They traded in Devdutt Padikkal from the Rajasthan Royals and gave them fast bowler Avesh Khan. The other trade was a player-for-cash deal. LSG traded away West Indies all-rounder Romario Shepherd to the Mumbai Indians.’
As per the All Players Bought By LSG In IPL Auction 2024, While the Padikkal trade earlier seemed very questionable, it was then learned that they made this trade because KL Rahul has reportedly decided to bat in the middle order. KL Rahul, currently out of India’s T20I team, has made this decision to prove himself an able middle-order hitter in the T20 format and lay his contention for selection in India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad.
Shivam Mavi is the replacement for Avesh Khan in LSG’s squad.
LSG bought Tamil Nadu’s young left-arm orthodox spinner M Siddharth for ₹ 2.4 crore. Siddharth had a terrific TNPL 2023 season where he was one of the most economical bowlers in the tournament, helping his side, Lyca Kovai Kings, win the TNPL title this year.
David Willey, who has retired from international cricket and devoted himself to T20 franchise leagues, was bought by LSG for ₹ 2 crore. Willey is a wicket-taking new-ball bowler who can smack some boundaries with the bat.
Other additions to the LSG squad were Arshin Kulkarni, the 18-year-old pace-bowling all-rounder from Maharashtra, fast bowler Arshad Khan, and Australian finisher Ashton Turner.
