Abhishek Sharma had a memorable outing in the Asian Games gold medal match against Pakistan on Saturday. The Indian opener scored 61 runs off just 28 balls. During that innings, he achieved two major six-hitting milestones.
First, Abhishek reached 400 sixes in T20 cricket. He got there in 3,513 balls. That moved him past Chris Gayle, who needed 3,557 balls to reach the same mark. Only Andre Russell has been faster. Russell reached 400 sixes in 3,027 balls.
Second, Abhishek completed 100 sixes in T20 cricket for the year 2026. He reached that mark in 651 balls. That makes him the second-fastest to 100 sixes in a calendar year. Once again, Russell is ahead. He did it in 589 balls in 2019.
Abhishek moved past Dewald Brevis on that list. Brevis took 653 balls in 2025. Gayle needed 724 balls in 2016. Karanbir Singh is fifth with 728 balls in 2025.
His seven sixes in the final also took his career tally against Pakistan to 14 in T20 internationals. That moved him past Virat Kohli, who has 11. Abhishek is now India’s leading six-hitter in matches between the two sides.
Abhishek’s innings gave India a fast start. Captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and chose to bat. India posted 211 for 6 in their 20 overs. Tilak Varma played a strong finishing role with an unbeaten 51 off 22 balls. Shivam Dube also contributed in a key sixth-wicket partnership. Pakistan’s bowlers slowed India down in the middle overs. But the late hitting from Tilak and Dube pushed India past 200.
Abhishek was out in the eighth over. But his quick scoring had already put India in a strong position. India went on to win the gold medal, beating Pakistan by 19 runs.
