The 2024 ICC T20 World Cup will kick off on June 2 in the West Indies and the United States. The tournament will see 20 national teams battle it out for ultimate supremacy in the shortest international format of the game.
BCCI is expected to release India’s squad for the tournament this week, as early as Wednesday, May 1.
While there has been a lot of debate and discussion surrounding the prospects for the squad and who should be on the plane to the US, some players have stamped their names into contention with authority.

The ongoing IPL is being looked at as an audition ground for players to prove themselves for a place in the squad.
No player has raised his stock in this IPL more than Shivam Dube, who has been among the best Indian batters in the tournament, with many backing him to be a part of the India squad for the World Cup.
In the past two seasons with the Chennai Super Kings, Dube has revitalised his career and emerged as one of the cleanest hitters of the ball in world cricket. His performances last season brought him back to the national side.

In the Super Kings’ most recent match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Dube scored 39 off 20 and took his team past the 200-run mark.

Aakash Chopra is one of the people advocating for Shivam Dube’s inclusion in the India team. While reviewing the CSK vs. SRH game on his YouTube channel, Chopra had this to say about Dube:
“The way the kid is playing, he is absolutely scintillating and sensational. I am saying that you shouldn’t only send him but also play him in the XI. The discussion is not about his T20 selection. In my opinion, you are compelled to play him in the XI. No captain, team management, or selector can ignore him because if you ignore him, there is no player in India at the moment who hits better than him. If you make him sit on the bench, you will do a grave injustice,” the former India opener added.”
As for CSK, they are third in the league table following the win over the Sunrisers, with five wins and 10 points in nine matches. They will face the Punjab Kings in their next match on May 1 at Dharamshala’s HPCA Stadium.
