IND Vs WI Match Prediction: Now that the thrilling and record-breaking ODI series between these two sides is behind us, India will take on the West Indies, who are a formidable opponent in the 20-over format, in a five-match T20I series.
The Indian Cricket Team became the first to win back-to-back T20 World Cup titles earlier this year, and the first to win the tournament three times.
Then came the IPL, where the entire Indian team played. The Sri Lankans then hosted Afghanistan for one Test match and three T20Is, winning them all comfortably. Then came the disastrous two T20Is against Ireland, both of which the Men in Blue lost, resulting in their first-ever series loss to the Irish.
A tour to India was next, where the Indians were thrashed 4-0 in a T20I series, then lost 2-1 in an ODI series. Most recently, they defeated Sri Lanka 1-0 in a two-Test series, before whitewashing Afghanistan 3-0 in T20Is. India then defeated the West Indies 2-0 in a three-ODI series, while simultaneously winning the gold medal in the 2026 Asian Games
As for the West Indies cricket team, they have had a mixed year so far on the international stage. They topped their group in the 2026 T20 World Cup over England before nearly making it to the semis.
After much of their squad played in the IPL, the West Indies lost an ODI to Sri Lanka, but then won the T20I and Test series against the Lankans. A disappointing tour of New Zealand was next, where the hosts were beaten in a five-game ODI series by the Kiwis.
The Windies have been on an Asian tour for the last month. First, they drew a Test series against Pakistan, and more recently lost an ODI series to India.

IND Vs WI 1st T20I 2026 Ekana Stadium Pitch Report
The pitches at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow have been a spinner’s paradise for a long time, especially in the IPL. Last season, while every stadium had 200 as the par score, scores of 140-160 were common at the Ekana. However, in recent times, bigger scores have been posted here too, with some pitches being traditionally batting-friendly. Generally considered to have bowling pitches, the Ekana’s boundary dimensions don’t make hittin boundaries any easier. The straight boundary extends to 70m and beyond on occasion, while the square boundaries are 65m away from the batter.
