WWE NXT took place at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. The show continued the build toward Halloween Havoc.
Mason Rook was originally scheduled to challenge Grayson Waller for the NXT Championship. Rook was not cleared to compete, so Waller held an open challenge instead.
Zaria defended the NXT Women’s North American Championship against Thea Hail.
The Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic also continued with two matches. Fraxion faced DarkState, while Chazz Hall and Mini Vikingo faced Birth Right.
WWE NXT Highlights
Thea Hail vs Zaria (c) (NXT Women’s North American Championship)
Zaria defended the NXT Women’s North American Championship against Thea Hail. Zaria used her power early, throwing Hail across the ring and into the turnbuckles. Hail fought back by targeting Zaria’s arm with a Fujiwara armbar and stomps. Zaria regained control with a discus lariat on the floor.
After the break, Hail hit a suicide dive before returning to the ring with more offense. She countered Zaria’s spear attempt into a double wristlock, but Zaria powered out. Hail then attempted a victory roll, but Zaria kicked out and hit a spear. Zaria followed with an F-5 to pin Hail and retain her championship.
Myles Borne Embraces His True Self After Betraying Tavion Heights
Myles Borne addressed his actions toward Tavion Heights and said he had stopped trying to be the person others expected. He admitted losing his title made him focus on Ethan Page, who had warned him that only one person could be at the top. Borne said he chose to become the star he believed he was meant to be. He explained that attacking Heights with a steel weapon felt like being his true self.
Borne then rejected the idea that fans supported him because they respected him, saying they only felt sorry for him. He called himself the favourite rather than an underdog and said he was done trying to please anyone.
Birth Right (Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo & Uriah Connors) vs Mini Vikingo & Chazz “Starboy” Hall (Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic First Round Match)
Birth Right faced Mini Vikingo and Chazz “Starboy” Hall in the first round of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. Uriah Connors and Channing Lorenzo controlled the early action, but Hall and Vikingo fought back with quick attacks and dives. After the break, Vikingo hit a satellite DDT and Spanish Fly on Lorenzo, while Hall added rolling solebutts and a corkscrew moonsault.
The match broke down with both teams trading big moves. Hall later caught Connors with a handspring kick, while Vikingo followed with a tornado DDT. Vikingo then hit a Phoenix Senton on Lorenzo to secure the win. Afterward, Zilla Fatu attacked Birth Right and challenged Grayson Waller for his open-challenge title match.
Kelani Jordan Faces New Title Threat
Kelani Jordan addressed the NXT Women’s North American Championship and said she was no longer an afterthought. She discussed the potential challengers in the division and said she would not hand out title matches because nobody had handed her opportunities. The crowd then chanted for Wren Sinclair, but Jordan said Sinclair was suspended.
General Manager Robert Stone interrupted and announced a battle royal for next week. The winner will earn a championship match at Halloween Havoc. Stars from NXT, Raw, SmackDown, AAA, Evolve and TNA will compete. Reina Volcan then attacked Jordan with a short-arm lariat and elbow drop. Volcan confirmed she would enter the battle royal.
DarkState (Cutler James & Osiris Griffin) vs Fraxiom (Axiom & Nathan Frazer) (Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic First Round Match)
Fraxiom faced DarkState in the first round of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. Axiom and Nathan Frazer used quick tags and double-team attacks early, but DarkState took control after catching Axiom off guard. Cutler James kept Axiom away from his corner before Frazer finally tagged in and attacked Osiris Griffin with kicks and a springboard axehandle.
Frazer later hit a springboard senton on James. DarkState continued fighting back, but Fraxiom landed several big moves. Axiom and Frazer hit an avalanche Spanish Fly on James before Axiom took out Griffin with a dive. Frazer then climbed to the top and hit a Phoenix Splash on James to secure the victory.
EK Prosper vs Grayson Waller (c) (NXT Men’s Championship Open Challenge)
Grayson Waller opened his NXT Men’s Championship challenge, leading to a rush from the locker room. Zilla Fatu and Cruz Montana brawled before EK Prosper entered the ring and became Waller’s challenger. Prosper used dropkicks, an Asai moonsault and a tope con giro early. Waller regained control with a TKO and later an Argentine backbreaker.
Prosper fought back with a DDT and Michinoku Driver before putting Waller through the announce table with an Asai moonsault. Back inside, Prosper hit a diving leg drop, but Waller recovered. Waller then hit two Rolling Thunder attacks, with the second becoming an Ace Crusher for the pinfall. Waller retained the title.
