Having played 10 excellent overs from four of India’s frontline bowlers, South Africa would have hoped to cash in on the military medium pace of Shivam Dube, but Dube bowled a jaffa to rattle the stumps of Corbin Bosch in the IND vs SA 3rd T20I.
After a disappointing display with the ball in the second T20I of the series in Mullanpur, the Indian bowlers didn’t give an inch to the Protea batters for the first half of the innings in the third T20I in Dharamsala on Sunday.
India captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and elected to bowl first at the dewy HPCA Stadium, and his bowlers showed their class to have the visitors struggling at 44/4 at the 10-over mark.
Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana bowled all six overs in the powerplay, sending down three overs each of probing new ball spells that yielded only 25 runs for South Africa for the loss of three wickets. Then, Hardik Pandya struck with Tristan Stubbs’ scalp, and Varun Chakravarthy conceded only six runs in his first two overs.
Seeing Dube, India’s sixth bowler, the Proteas would have felt a good opportunity to inject some ignition into their innings. However, Dube struck on his first delivery of the match, hitting the perfect good-length patch and seaming the ball into Bosch, who left a huge pad-bat gap with his stroke and feet going nowhere.
It was a wobble ball from Dube that hit the pitch on its seam and jagged back in sharply from off-stump to beat Bosch’s bat on its inside edge and thud into the stumps, with the leg stump now lying flat.

Dube has markedly improved his bowling over the past couple of years, a reflection of which was there in his first over tonight as he seamed the ball both away and into the right-handed Protea batters.
Meanwhile, Varun has also blasted out a South African batsman, Donovan Ferreira, as the batter missed his slog. At the time of writing, South Africa’s innings is going downhill at 77/6 after 15 overs.
