Shubman Gill’s disappointing run on the ongoing Australian tour continued as he fell for only 15 runs in the IND vs AUS 3rd T20I, which India won by 5 wickets on Sunday in Hobart to level the series 1-1 with two games to go.
Gill, the newly minted ODI captain and T20I vice-captain, has managed scores of 10, 9, 24, 37*, 5, and 15 on this tour down under.
Since Gill is the vice-captain, he has an assured place in the side. But that can only be to an extent, with India pushing Sanju Samson out of his favored opening position, where he’d done brilliantly, and Yashasvi Jaiswal not even picked in the T20I squad.
In the Asia Cup, he averaged only 21 in seven innings and has not really stood out in Australia.
Pressure mounted further on the Indian opener as he was dismissed for 15 runs off 12 balls in the third T20I against Australia as India aimed to hunt down Australia’s total of 186.
An interesting arc for the fans played out in the stands with relation to Gill, as his rumored girlfriend Sara Tendulkar, the daughter of the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, was in attendance at the Bellerive Oval, Hobart, to watch the IND vs AUS 3rd T20I.
On the second ball of the sixth over, Gill whipped Nathan Ellis for a boundary through the mid-wicket region. Sara Tendulkar was then spotted laughing, cheering on with a hearty smile.
However, that smile and the cheers quickly vanished because Gill got out on the very next delivery by Ellis, lbw as the batsman missed his flick this time.
The cameraman was quick to capture the reactions of Sara again, who gave a sedate expression after Gill had been dismissed, the cheerfulness of moments ago completely gone.

IND vs AUS: Arshdeep Singh bags Man of the Match award on return to T20I XI
Meanwhile, Arshdeep Singh produced a Man of the Match-worthy performance in the 3rd T20I. After being benched from the first two games, Arshdeep replaced Harshit Rana in the side and made an immediate impact with the ball, dismissing Travis Head and Josh Inglis in his first two overs. He returned in the death overs to get rid of Marcus Stoinis, finishing with figures of 3/35.
In the chase of 187, India were 111/4 in 11.1 overs before Washington Sundar, who had replaced Kuldeep Yadav in the side, smoked 49* off 23 balls to take India over the line with nine balls to spare.
