MLC 2025 Schedule: The United States’ most ambitious cricketing venture will enter its third chapter this month, as Major League Cricket 2025 gets underway on June 13, charting a month-long campaign that will culminate with the final on July 14.

It remains, in form and ambition, a curious hybrid: an American tournament with an unmistakably subcontinental soul, set against a backdrop of baseball diamonds and suburban stadiums. But for all the incongruities, MLC is now List-A recognised by the ICC, and this third season features a lengthened schedule, international luminaries, and the imprimatur of four IPL franchises.

MLC 2025 Teams

Six sides, as in previous editions, will contest the title. Reigning champions Washington Freedom will open the season against last year’s runners-up, San Francisco Unicorns, in a reprise of their 2024 final. MI New York, inaugural champions in 2023, and Seattle Orcas, their vanquished opponents that year, round out the cohort alongside Texas Super Kings and LA Knight Riders — all four affiliated with IPL parent clubs.

MLC 2025 Format

In a country where cricket has rarely caught hold beyond expatriate communities, MLC’s steady expansion may be modest, but it is not insignificant. The tournament will now stage 34 matches, up from 25 in 2024 and 19 in its debut year.

The format will be familiar: a double round-robin, followed by a three-match playoff. The top two teams will meet in the Qualifier, the third and fourth in the Eliminator. The winner of the Qualifier advances directly to the final; the loser meets the Eliminator’s victor in the Challenger, a now-standard cricketing contrivance.

MLC 2025 Venues

Venues include the Oakland Coliseum, Texas’ Grand Prairie Stadium, and Florida’s Broward County Stadium in Lauderhill. The playoff stage — and the symbolic heart of the event — will centre on Grand Prairie.

Big Names Sign Up for MLC 2025

MLC 2025 will again feature a smattering of recognisable names. Sunil Narine, Faf du Plessis, Andre Russell, and Trent Boult, all recently on IPL duty, are set to return — itinerant professionals in a game now defined by air miles and auction tables. Lately, Nicolas Pooran also joined the list of stars by taking charge of MI New York as the captain.
