Yashasvi Jaiswal To Captain Goa From Next Season: Indian Cricket Team opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has decided that he will be leaving Mumbai for the 2025-26 Indian domestic cricket season. He will join Goa as the captain in one of the most unexpected moves in Indian cricket.
While he was born in Uttar Pradesh, Jaiswal has spent most of his life in Mumbai. The start of his cricketing career was at the famous Azad Maidan, even living in the tent of the groundsmen at the Maidan.
He proved his name in the difficult environment of Mumbai cricket before becoming a part of the India U-19 team and being picked for Mumbai’s storied Ranji Trophy side. His brilliant performances in the 2020 U-19 World Cup resulted in him being bought by the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL auction.
In the upcoming years. For his domestic side, Yashasvi has an average of 60.85 in first-class cricket and 52.62 in List A games after having played over 30 of each. His brilliant performances in the domestic leagues and the IPL saw him make his Indian Cricket Team debut in 2023.
In about a year, he became one of the most impressive young batters in world cricket, even scoring the most runs in Test cricket in 2024.
However, the 23-year-old has now decided that he will be taking his talents from Mumbai in domestic cricket to Goa. But he will not only make this move to get more opportunities and freedoms. He will also captain the Goa side in the 2025-26 season.

“Yes, Jaiswal has decided to move to Goa. He will soon apply to the Mumbai Cricket Association for a No-Objection Certificate to move to Goa,” a source close to Jaiswal said.
Despite being one of the most promising batters in world cricket, Jaiswal has been struggling a bit for form as of late. After an okay-ish Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Yashasvi’s start to IPL 2025 as a star batter for the Rajasthan Royals has been poor. In the three games so far, he has only scored 34 runs in three games at an average of 11.33 and a strike rate of 106.25.
Yashasvi will be seen batting for the Royals in their next match as RR takes on the Punjab Kings on Saturday, April 5, at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Punjab.
