Dinesh Karthik Names The Best Captain In Cricket: Former Indian Cricket Team player Dinesh Karthik has recently given his opinion on Australian Cricket Team captain Pat Cummins, claiming that he is the best captain in world cricket right now.

Cummins is one of the most successful Australian national team captains, and that is saying a lot. Since getting the full-time leadership role in 2021. He has won the Ashes, won the 2022 World Cup, won the 2023 World Test Championship, won the ODI World Cup in India that same year, and most recently, won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the Aussies after a decade.
Apart from being a successful national team captain, Pat has also been successful in franchise cricket as the team leader. In IPL 2024, he revolutionised IPL cricket as the captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad, taking the team to the final.
The Kangaroo all-rounder is a very different captain than former successful Aussie skippers like Ricky Ponting. As in, he does not trash talk a lot on the field.
Karthik, who has some experience of captaincy, as he led Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL a few seasons ago, has been impressed by the way Cummins has captained his team, his approach on and off the field, and his ability to lead his men.
In a recent interview with News18, Karthik had this to say about Pat Cummins:
“I feel he (Cummins) is the most aggressive cricketer on the planet right now. And he doesn’t do it with talking or abusing. He does it with his body language, the way he handles the media, post-matches, and pre-matches. He has in it, he has in him the ability to lead a group of men, and for me, he is the number one captain in the world right now.”
After defeating India 3-1 in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Pat Cummins’ Australia will now face off against Sri Lanka in two Tests and an ODI before the 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan. They have also qualified for the World Test Championship final for a second cycle in a row and will face South Africa in the final in June 2025 in England.
As for Dinesh Karthik, despite having retired from all forms of cricket in June 2024, he is interested in playing franchise cricket all over the world and reversed that decision to play in the 2025 SA20, where he will represent the Paarl Royals.
