Virat Kohli Arrives In Australia for BGT: Indian star-batter Virat Kohli has arrived in Perth, Australia, ahead of the first match in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He is the first Indian player to arrive Down Under ahead of the Test series.
The five-match India vs Australia test series will commence on November 22, and the first Test will be played in Perth’s Optus Stadium (fka the WACA). The all-important series will be crucial in deciding the line-up for the World Test Championship final in 2025.
Virat Kohli Arrives In Australia
While Kohli left for Australia on his own, the whole team will reach the country in two batches. The first batch, which includes the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mohammed Siraj, Shubman Gill, Akash Deep, and Washington Sundar, has already departed and will reach Perth in a few hours.
Indian Cricket Team head coach Gautam Gambhir held a pre-departure press conference earlier today. He, along with the second batch of the squad, will start their journey later today and will reach Australia tomorrow, November 12.
November 12 is a Tuesday and the day on which the Indian team will start their training in the Perth Stadium. The ground, however, will be on lockdown as the Men in Blue camp will strictly be behind closed doors.
In another piece of news, which even Gambhir touched upon in his press conference, is that captain Rohit Sharma will not be travelling with the squad as uncertainty looms over his participation in the first Test. He might be in India at the time of the first match of the series due to the upcoming birth of his second child. In his absence, Jasprit Bumrah might captain the side.

Returning to Virat Kohli, he has not been in the best form this year. In the six matches and 12 innings he has played in Test cricket this year, Kohli has breached the 50-run mark only once. In the recent three-match series against New Zealand, he only managed to score 93 runs, 70 of which came in a single inning.
The last time India faced the Kangaroos in Australia in 2020-21, Kohli was the regular captain of the team. After the Indian Cricket Team lost the first match in humiliating fashion, Virat returned to India for the birth of his child. In his absence, the team made a historic comeback and won the series.
This time around, Virat Kohli would be looking to score massive runs in Test cricket in Australia, as he has done for pretty much his whole international career.
