Bayern Munich full-back Alphonso Davies recently talked about his transfer talks with Real Madrid over the most recent transfer window but assured that his full focus is on his current team.
Davies has been with the German giants since 2018, back when he was 17 years old. Since then, he has emerged as one of the best full-backs in the world. Not only is he a unit in the team’s defence, but he is also pacey and skilled enough to charge the ball down the field and create attacking chances.
As one of the best in the world in his position, the Canadian international has been a transfer target for several clubs over the years. But no team has been able to convince Bayern to sell their young star, who is still 23 years old and might still have the prime of his career ahead of him.
A young and pacey talent who contributes to the attack has been playing in the top-five European leagues since his teens; sounds like a typical Real Madrid transfer target. So naturally, Los Blancos have approached Die Roten in regards to Davies in the past.
In the 2024 summer transfer window, it is Bayern Munich who put pressure on Alphonso to sign a new deal, as his current one is set to expire in 2025, at the end of which he can walk away for free. But the defender has yet to sign the new and improved contract with his current side.
This brings the Madrid-based clubs into the conversation. Real made a few offers for Davies this past summer. This begs the question: does he want to move to Real Madrid, a team filled with absolute superstars like Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr., and Jude Bellingham?
Alphonso Davies On His Real Madrid Dealings
While the answer to that question might be positive, Alphonso Davies has clarified that his sole focus at the moment is at his current club and doing well with them. In a recent interview with BILD, he had this to say,
“My full focus is on this team. I’m playing for Bayern Munich now, and that’s what I’m concentrating on. I want to win every game. That’s why I’m not thinking about it right now. Whether I stay or leave the club, I will always carry this club in my heart. You have to talk to my agent about it. My focus right now is on winning every game. I’m not thinking about the other subject at the moment.”
So far this season, Alphonso Davies has made five appearances for Vincent Kompany’s Bayern Munich, recording an assist in the time he has played.
With his contract expiring in the summer of 2025, Davies can sign a pre-contract agreement in the January transfer window, which will see him move to Real Madrid in July of that year. But will the Bundesliga club let their young superstar sign for a continental competitor for free?
