India Vs Bangladesh 1st Test Playing XI: India has won the toss and decided to bat first in the first of two Test matches against Bangladesh, being played in Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium.
The Men in Blue, captained by Rohit Sharma, are hosting the Bangladesh Cricket Team for two Tests and three T20Is. This is the first time India is playing red-ball cricket since the five-Test series against England.
A 16-man squad was announced for this series. Most of the players in the squad were till very recently busy with the Duleep Trophy, a List A tournament. In fact, the competition, which is still underway, became a testing ground for the prospects of the Indian Cricket Team. While some of the most senior players did not participate in the competition, players who were looking to confirm their place in the team did.
While India won their most recent Test series against England 3-1 and won the 2024 T20 World Cup earlier this year, they are coming off a recent 2-0 ODI series loss against Sri Lanka, which was also among the first series India played under their new head coach Gautam Gambhir.
On the other hand, the Bangla Tigers are coming off one of their biggest achievements as a cricketing nation. Not only did they win their first-ever Test in Pakistan, but they also whitewashed the Men in Green in a two-match series.
