Real Madrid Looking For Ancelotti Replacement: Real Madrid is reportedly already looking for a replacement for their current manager, Carlo Ancelotti. It seems that the Italian manager has a few offers on the table and might leave his current assignment sooner than expected.
Ancelotti is a legendary manager in European football. Having managed some of the biggest clubs on the continent, he has won almost everything there is to win. He has won Serie A and the Champions League with AC Milan, the Premier League with Chelsea, Ligue 1 with Paris Saint-Germain, and the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich.
But the 65-year-old has won the most in his two stints with Real Madrid. First taking charge of Los Blancos in 2013, he was the manager during the famous ‘La Decima’ UCL win, when the Spanish giants won the Champions League for the 10th time.
Now in his second stint with the Madrid-based club, which started in 2021, he also won two La Liga titles, making him the only manager to win each one of Europe’s top-five leagues. He has also won two UCL titles in three seasons, along with everything else there is to win.
Suffice it to say, ‘Don Carlo’ is one of the greatest modern-day managers. While he may not be seen as a tactical mastermind on the level of someone like Pep Guardiola, it is difficult to argue with too much success.
Real Madrid Looking For Ancelotti Replacement
Carlo Ancelotti’s current contract with Real Madrid is set to expire in 2026. It is now being reported that he is looking at Saudi Arabia and the Saudi Pro League as his new destination, which, if it happens, will be a huge money move for the legendary manager.
Ancelotti himself has stated in the past that he might not manage another team after Real and may enter the international football arena. He told this to Madrid Universal,
“Real Madrid will be my last club. If there is an opportunity for a national team, I don’t know. I’m not so excited about coaching a national team because I would lose what I like most, the day-to-day. I really enjoy what I’m doing. This is my season number 29 as a coach. It’s true that I have won a lot, but imagine the number of titles I lost.”
But who will the defending La Liga champions pick as Ancelotti’s replacement? A recent report mentioned former Real Madrid player and current Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso as the eventual replacement of the Italian great.
Alonso, who is a club legend at Liverpool, Real, and Bayern Munich, picked his first managerial assignment with Bundesliga side Leverkusen in 2022. In the 2023/24 season, the team went unbeaten throughout the season (until the Europa League final) and won their first league title. Because of that, Alonso is one of the hottest managerial prospects in world football.
But there are still two seasons left before Carlo Ancelotti may leave his current club, in which time they will be looking to win a few more La Liga, domestic cup, and UCL titles.
