Randy Orton Auditioned For Deadpool 2: WWE Superstar and legend Randy Orton has revealed that he auditioned for a massive role in the 2018 blockbuster comic-book movie Deadpool 2. The Legend Killer has now opened up about the situation.
Orton is the most prolific WWE Superstar of all time. He has been a full-time on-screen wrestler since making his debut in 2002. While other top stars either leave the company for Hollywood, like John Cena and The Rock, or retire before wrestling for so long. Not only has the 44-year-old been a top star for much of his 22-year-long career, but he has also been a full-time talent for all that time and has not slowed down a bit.
With 14 World Championships and countless other titles, not to mention his S-tier character work and a heel for much of his career, there is a solid argument for Randy being the greatest WWE Superstar of all time.
But his staying with WWE for all this time does not mean he has not tried his hand at movies. Most notably, he starred in and was the lead of the WWE Studios movie ‘12 Rounds 2: Reloaded’ in 2013.
But The Viper has now revealed that he has sought after and auditioned for roles much bigger than Nick Malloy in the ‘12 Rounds’ series.
Randy recently appeared on “What Do You Wanna Talk About?” which is the talk show hosted by WWE Champion Cody Rhodes. When discussing his legacy in the WWE, Orton said that the wrestling business was his life, that after his family, this was the most dear thing to him.

While discussing his legacy, the Apex Predator revealed that he has, over the years, auditioned for a few roles in Hollywood movies, one of them being the role of anti-hero Cable in the 2018 superhero flick Deadpool 2, which saw Ryan Reynolds in the titular role and was a part of the ‘Fox Cinematic Universe’, before the characters were brought into the ‘Marvel Cinematic Universe’ after 20th Century Fox was acquired by Disney.
While the world is talking about Deadpool & Wolverine, the third movie in the Deadpool series that was released in 2024 and earned over $1 billion at the box office, Deadpool 2 was a highly successful movie that earned over $785 million globally. Cable was a major character in that movie, played by Josh Brolin, who is also known for playing Thanos in the Avengers movies.
Randy Orton revealed that he auditioned for the role of Cable and believed that he would get the role.
“So, I do auditions here and there, and I remember I got an audition early on when I finally got some representation in that industry. And I think Deadpool 2… Cable. I read for Cable, and in my head…’Boy, I was gonna be Cable,” said Randy.
Randy Orton is currently embroiled in a feud with World Heavyweight Champion Gunther and will face him for the title at the ‘Bash in Berlin’ Premium Live Event on August 31, to be broadcast live from the Uber Arena in Berlin, Germany.
