PV Sindhu Makes To Round Of 16 At Paris Olympics
In the first game, the Indian star shot up to a six-point lead right at the beginning. Coming off a knee injury before the games, Sindhu, who is seeded 10th in this competition, looked good against her unseeded opponent.
Using every trick in her book and trying a lot of different shots, she never gave the Estonian a chance. They grew to 15-2, and the game ended in a one-sided scoreline of 21-5.
The 29-year-old Indian won her first match in a similar way, defeating the opponent from the Maldives 21-9, 21-6 in straight sets.
Coming to the second set of her most recent game, it was Kuuba who took the first couple of points and was generally a little more competitive in this game as Sindhu grew more experimental.
Despite that, the two-time Olympic medalist took the lead and never looked back. From 10-6 to 15-6 and then 19-6. The Estonian took four points at this moment, but the game ended 21-10 in favor of Sindhu, yet another straight-sets victory.
With this win, PV Sindhu won both matches in the group, topped Group M, and made it to the round of 16 in women’s singles badminton at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
But there are still several Indian shuttlers in the hunt for a medal at the 2024 Olympics. At the time of writing, Lakshya Sen is taking on the No. 3 seed Jonatan Christie in a Group L match in order to top the group and make it to the round of 16 in men’s singles. HS Prannoy will play later today and will look to top his group too.
In the men’s doubles, medal contenders Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy have topped their group and made it to the quarterfinals.
