Test cricket is a very different game from limited-overs cricket, as teams look to defend and bat for longer rather than focusing on scoring more runs. At least, that is how the format has been for over a century.
A side effect of this being the case is that batters don’t look to score quickly, and hence, score fewer boundaries. That is doubly the case for Sixes. It is very common to see less than five sixes being his in the five-day format.
But then there are some batters who bring their limited-overs temperament to the white-clothed format. When a ball is there to hit, they hit the ball out of the park.
Here is the list of the top 5 Indian batters with most sixes in Tests. From players who play a little more aggressively to some who have just played a lot of Test cricket, here are the five Indians with the most maximums in the format.

5) Ravindra Jadeja
Ravindra Jadeja is a player many would not expect to be on this list. Despite being a product of the T20 generation, many people just associate ‘Jaddu’ more with bowling. But let’s not forget he is one of the best all-rounders in the world, even in test cricket. Not only that, he has played several scintillating knocks in the format.
With 72 Test matches under his belt, Jadeja has hit 64 sixes. Having batted for India in the lower-middle order for years, the 35-year-old has come in to bat on occasions where the team needs to close the innings out with a quick injection of runs, something that Ravindra Jadeja has brought to the table on many occasions.
4) Sachin Tendulkar
While Sachin Tendulkar is considered by most to be the greatest batter of all time. He is not associated with a lot of six-hitting. The Master Blaster makes it to this list due to one reason only: the sheer amount of Test cricket he has played. Tendulkar is the only cricketer to have played 200 matches.
In his double-ton of Test matches, the icon has hit 69 sixes. Not only is his match-to-six ratio the lowest on this list, but he also has the lowest strike rate out of anyone on here. But that seems like nothing in front of nearly 30000 Test runs.

3) MS Dhoni
The presence of Captain Cool on this list would’ve been foreseen by most, but many would assume that he would be higher on this list. No bother, as the legendary wicketkeeper has scored 78 sixes in 90 Test matches.
Coming lower down the order on most occasions, MS Dhoni would come out all guns blazing, bringing his attacking approach to the slowest format.
2) Rohit Sharma
Despite being the player with the fewest matches on this list, the current Indian Cricket Team captain is second in the list of most sixes in Test cricket for India. He is also the only batter on this list with more sixes than matches or a better ratio than 1:1 between sixes and matches.
In 59 games, Rohit Sharma has hit 84 sixes in the format. One of the most explosive batters in world cricket, ‘The Hitman’ brings that same attitude to Test cricket. Looking to give his team a great start, the opening batter looks to score quick and big runs.
1) Virender Sehwag
Virender Sehwag being on top of this list would surprise very few people. The Nawab of Najagarh brought his brand of fearless batting to Test cricket. The only Indian with two triple-hundreds, Sehwag has a staggering strike rate of 82.12 in Test cricket.
In 103 Test matches, Virender Sehwag has 90 sixes. Famously, while batting at 295 against Pakistan in Multan in 2004, the explosive batter hit a six to reach 300 in fabulous fashion.
