Former Indian cricketer Ambatti Rayudu slammed Windies batter Andre Russell for his reckless run-out, which later played as the game charger. In a do-or-die match against South Africa in the Super 8 of the T20 World Cup, Russels’ team succumbed to the rivals by 3 wickets.
West Indies, batting first, were at 117 when 3 overs were left. Russell hit the ball and ran for a run, which seemed difficult as Nortje already had the ball. The Proteas bowler was too sharp in the throw, and the ball had hit the stump before Russell could touch the crease. Windies could only take tier score to 135 after every ball was bowled. This target was later reduced to 123 in 17 overs as the rain played its part.
It wasn’t easy for Proteas during the chase, as the rain had made it difficult to bat. But they climbed down the tiny mountain in 16.1 overs.

Rayudu Slams Russell for Reckless Run-Out
Speaking on Star Sports, Rayudu Rayudu slams Russell for reckless run-out in his usual style.
“There was no need for that run as three overs were left, and Russell could have taken West Indies to a good total. Anrich Nortje’s throw was spot on, but Russell deserves the blame for putting his team under pressure, and it finally proved to be the difference in the end.”

With the win, South Africa marched into the semis, leading Group 2 with 6 points by winning all 3 matches. England also accompanied them with 4 while both the hosts, the West Indies, and the USA, had to walk out.
The Proteas will wait for their opponents in the semis, which will be decided after Group 1 matches between India vs Australia and Afghanistan vs Bangladesh are done.
